Green Initiative in other Districts

I was wondering if anyone at the Hilton School District has checked with other school districts in Monroe County to see if they have started any green initiatives regarding any of the topics we covered at the kickoff meeting.

  1. Irondequoit HS offered a summer institute last year that focused on ways the town could go green. If you go to the town of Irondequoit website and click the green link it will give you more information. I ran across this while looking for school curriculum that included wind energy. While looking at some of the incentives offered for small wind I found that the amount of an incentive ties to the intended use of the system. For example,if the system is used for commercial utility the $50,000 incentive may be multiplied by a lower, say .7 factor than a school building where the $50,000 incentive may be multiplied by 1.4. The catch is that wind energy has to be somewhere in the curriculum in the school the project is proposed for. I was checking to see if the Irondequoit HS summer institute satisfies the catch. Louise Slaughters guy in her Rochester office told me that the East Rochester school district is in the process of going green as well.
