MIAMI--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--With reports mounting on illnesses related to environmental chemicals such as cancer and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, the EcoChamber, the global green chamber of commerce, strongly urges schools to bring organic foods into their school lunch programs to further protect the health of their children.

“We cannot underestimate the role of nutrition on our children”

"We cannot underestimate the role of nutrition on our children," said Tia Diaz-Balart, President of the EcoChamber of Commerce and Business Association. "Studies have shown that even one nutritiously improved meal a day can create a significant improvement in everything from ADHD, diabetes, cholesterol and even academic performance. The school lunch program is the perfect launching pad for even greater nutritional progress through the incorporation of organic foods."

Organic food has been deemed too expensive to bring in to the school programs especially given their dwindling budgets. However, since organic food is now more widely grown, prices have dropped significantly making it more of a viable option. The EcoChamber of Commerce and Business Association is working to bring organic food suppliers and schools together to identify opportunities to bring pesticide, herbicide and hormone-free food to our youth in a way that is also economically feasible.
